Photo-Festivals has invited the Brazilian photo collective Cia de Foto to participate to the Collectives Encounter and attend Format09 International Photo Festival. Cia de Foto undertook a short residency in Derby and spent a week in London.
Photo-Festivals would like to thank Jane Maxwell (photographer) and Kiki Mazzucchelli (curator based in London and Sao Paulo) for their support and whithout whom Cia de Foto's time spent in London would not have been so rewarding.

Cia de Foto emerged in 2003 with the aim of creating a dynamic, creative and
sustainable environment for their members
The collective focuses on in-house selected themes, and uses photographers
work as a guarantor of sustainability. Cia de Foto produces innovative photographic
essays – through new material and media – for commercial and entertainment
purposes.
So far, Cia shares a photographic archive of around one hundred and fifty pictures.
Everything is produced with a collective eye.
The main objective of the collective is to guarantee documentary production, which
produces a dialogue beyond Brazilian borders and expectations.
