ANRA

Founded by four photographers from four countries, ANRA seeks to mix the traditions
of photojournalism with the opportunities of new media.
Classic storytelling, campaigning journalism, and creative ideas for newpapers and
magazines around the world. Whether we work together or alone, the research, care
and attention that goes in is something we believe in.

DOCUMENTOGRAPHY
Documentography is an international collective of photographers working across the
fields of documentary, reportage, portraiture and fine art. The group was formed in
2000 and since then has grown and diversified, building on individual and group
successes. The group develops personal works as well as common projects tackling
a wide range of social, political, and cultural issues. The six documentography
photographers have won numerous awards and their work has been published and
exhibited internationally.
Documentography believes in the fundamental power of images to communicate and
aims to exercise that power humbly, honestly and humanely.

LATITUDE PHOTOGRAPHERS
Latitude Photographers is a group of international, emerging artists working in
London. We have developed out of a cooperative response to debates within
contemporary photography. Defined by experimental enquiry, we are concerned with
personal aesthetics and artistic intentions. However, the ethos of Latitude is to
incorporate differences in approach while retaining the feel of a group response.

UNSEEN (Nottingham)
Unseen is a collective of young contemporary photographers.
The group was founded in Spring of 2007 following a large group exhibition of the
same name. The benefits of working together, sharing resources and skills soon
became clear and Unseen was born.
A mix of ideas and styles is the key to the flexibility of the group dynamic. Unseen do
not share one particular approach to image making. We each have a unique style
and bring different skills and experiences to the group. What unites us is a
commitment to photography and the enthusiasm for bringing our work to audiences
from all over the world.”

Photo-Festivals has invited the Brazilian photo collective Cia de Foto to participate to the Collectives Encounter and attend Format09 International Photo Festival. Cia de Foto undertook a short residency in Derby and spent a week in London.

Photo-Festivals would like to thank Jane Maxwell (photographer) and Kiki Mazzucchelli (curator based in London and Sao Paulo) for their support and whithout whom Cia de Foto’s time spent in London would not have been so rewarding.

CIA DE FOTO (Sao Paulo, Brazil)

Cia de Foto emerged in 2003 with the aim of creating a dynamic, creative and
sustainable environment for their members
The collective focuses on in-house selected themes, and uses photographers
work as a guarantor of sustainability. Cia de Foto produces innovative photographic
essays – through new material and media – for commercial and entertainment
purposes.
So far, Cia shares a photographic archive of around one hundred and fifty pictures.
Everything is produced with a collective eye.
The main objective of the collective is to guarantee documentary production, which
produces a dialogue beyond Brazilian borders and expectations.
